Cromdale Outdoor Centre is Aberdeen City Council's residental base in Speyside. It offers comfortable bed and bunk accomodation. The centre has 38 bed spaces and is an ideal base for exploring Speyside and taking part in outdoor activites amid the varied and spectacular Strathspey scenery.
Activities can easily be arranged through adventure aberdeen or privately. The building is adapted to cater for people with disabilities including wheelchairs.
Self catering facilities in a large kitchen. Gas cooker, firdge freezer, large dishwasher, 2 catering microwaves and usual cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery provided. There is also the Haugh Hotel acorss the road which can provide a range of meals for large groups. Tel 01479 872583.
The large lounge has comfotable chairs, coffee tables and TV. This space is wired with a hearing impairment circuit.
2 bedrooms with 5 single beds, en suit toilet and adjacent shower, all fully conversant with disability access and alarms.
1 large bedroom with 6 bunks (12 bed spaces). 1 bedroom with 1 single bed and 2 bunks. 2 bedrooms with 3 bunks. 1 bedroom with 2 bunks.
There is alos a large entrance hall and drying room, toilets and single cubicle showers.
All beds have duvets, sheets, covers and pillowcases which are provided. Towels are not provided.
The building has a gas central heating system with radiators in each room, double glazing throughout and a sophisticated fire protection and detection system. The car park is agted and can accommodate cars, minibuses and trailers and a coach.
Cromdale village lies within the Cairngorm National Park so designated as the whole area is of outstanding natural beauty. The River Spey is 300m away, the Speyside way for walking and biking is 200m from the centre. The Cromdale hills, excellent hillwalking country, can be accessed by walking out the front door.
Within a short drive is Huntly's Cave rock climbing venue, various access and egress points onto the River Spey for kayaks, canoes and white water rafts. The Bridge of Brown Gorge is also nearby for gorge walking activities. Thre is a multitude of venues for glen/hill walks and off road cycling. Ski-ing activities can be found at the Lecht and Cairngorms.
