Distant Hills is an established family run guest house, set in extensive grounds and located at the edge of the quiet Highland village Spean Bridge.
Spean Bridge is an ideal base for touring with all aspects of outdoor activities available locally and situated just three miles from the Nevis Range Mountain Experience which includes the mountain gondola, skiing, walks and bike trails. Ben Nevis and Loch Ness are each a short drive from Spean Bridge. For walkers The Great Glen Way is nearby and courtesy transfers are available.
The Jacobite steam train on the beautiful West Highland Line is only a 15 minute drive away. Most of the seats on the train are pre-sold on the West Coast Railways website but if you do not have a ticket there is one carriage with seats sold on the day. The train departs at 10:20 and we would suggest that you get there early and buy your ticket from the conductor on the platform.
Alternatively it does appear to be possible to buy tickets the day before travel from the train conductor when the train arrives back from Mallaig at 16:00. There are three long stay car parks around the Fort William railway station which we can direct you to. The current cost of a day car park ticket is ?1.50. If you would rather leave the car at Distant Hills the 09:37 train from Spean Bridge railway station reaches Fort William at 09:54 perfect timing for the Steam train. The return train from Fort William to Spean Bridge leaves at 17:27
